University of Bristol Precinct, Rating Appeal 2005

Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP were re-instructed by the University of Bristol to act on their behalf with regard to the 2005 Rating Revaluation having previously represented the University on the 2000 and 1995 Rating Revaluations.

The University occupy a mixture of accommodation including, office, industrial and laboratory properties.  The majority of the properties are assessed under precinct valuations, with other properties assessed within the local rating list.

There are 16 separate precinct valuations which were entered into the 2005 rating list with a combined Rateable Value of £6,534,000.  Following negotiations with the Valuation Officer a total rateable value of £5,228,750 was agreed, resulting in a reduction of £1,305,250.

In addition to appeals on the precinct accommodation, Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP have also appealed the University's local list assessments and are currently negotiating agreements with the Valuation Office Agency.
