Drake Circus awarded 'Shopping Location of the Year'

Drake Circus, developed by P&O Estates, has been awarded the Retail Week Shopping Location of the Year award.

The award was decided by a panel of judges made up of retail gurus from across the UK. They said: "This award is about the centre which works best for retailers and (Drake Circus) won nothing but praise from the judges, many of whom are tenants in the scheme."

Retail Week went on to comment: "The 650,000 sq ft scheme has reinvigorated the city's retail offer and provided a focal point for shoppers from across Devon and Cornwall.

"The judges described it as a well-run centre, which has let well and, most importantly, is bringing in the shoppers into a city which had previously punched well below its size in retail terms."

Drake Circus is in good company - previous winners of this award include the Bluewater centre in Kent and the Bull Ring in Birmingham.

Hotel Chocolat, which has a store in Drake Circus, also won the Emerging Retailer of the Year award.
