Henry Boot Developments Limited has acquired land allocated for the second phase of Baglan Bay Retail Park from Hammerson for £1.8m where it plans to develop four retail units. These will enhance the existing park which already houses Lidl, Focus DIY and KFC, and is adjacent to a Morrisons food superstore.

The development will occupy a prominent position fronting Afan Way (A4241), the Peripheral Distributor Road dual carriageway which aids the flow of motorway traffic between Junctions 38 and 41. Pre-lets have already been exchanged to Dreams and Halfords, who are each taking units of 5,000 sq ft and 17,620 sq ft is remaining.

Development is to commence on site in Autumn 2007 with the anticipated completion of the units in Summer 2008.

Markham Vaughan Gillingham acted on behalf of Henry Boot Developments and Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP acted for Hammerson in its sale of the land.
