The former Woolworth's store located on Fishponds Road, Bristol has been let to expanding fashion retailer Ethel Austin.

The prominent ground floor store has remained vacant since the collapse of Woolworth's but the letting to Ethel Austin will greatly enhance the shopping offer and attract shoppers back to what is already a busy suburb of Bristol.

Ethel Austin are to occupy the store on a new full repairing and insuring lease for a term of 10 years and has commenced fitting out works on the unit, which will provide a large ground floor store with a sales area of 3,775 sq ft and ancillary accommodation on first and second floor.  Works should be completed in October with the new store opening in November.

Ethel Austin is one of the top value clothing retailers with over 300 stores nationwide and aims to provide 'the best possible service for the best possible product at the best possible value'.  The new store in Fishponds forms part of their on-going expansion and the introduction of their new '2010' format to the look of their stores.  Despite having such a wide coverage nationwide, Ethel Austin have only had two stores located in the Bristol area in Nailsea and Bedminster and this will be their third.

Adam Cooper of Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP, who advised the landlords, said: "When Woolworth's collapsed many thought this section of Fishponds Road would never recover but my client is very optimistic that due to the strength and retail offer of Ethel Austin, it will actually revive and substantially improve the area."

Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP's Bristol office advised K M Lynch Properties, the landlords.
